And here we go .
It started the usual way when im not working , up , take Sam ( stepson ) to school ,
down to Daz at Redfins tackle shop in Measham to buy the bait n stuff .
Finally ,after a return visit to home for my mobile we hit the water at 10am .
The lake we fish is about 40acres with a couple of islands to aim at if you can cast 120yds or have a baitboat ( i cant do either anymore the back wont let me )
The wind was howling and it was tipping it down and we both thought we were in for a fruitless day .
After mixing the groundbait and rigging up we set up the pods and fired out the rods two with worm and maggot and two with popup boillies at about 45yds and waited , and waited , and waited , finally at just turned 1pm my right hand rod bleeped twice , waited a secomnd and screamed into life .
After a short scrap i slipped the net under a beautiful 8lb 4oz tench ( the first of the season )
Not 5mins later Simmos rod went off with a 4lb 6oz bream . We unhooked and weighed it , and as he was rebaiting my other rod went , it was like an express train , i hit it , played it , and then swore a lot as i felt the hook pull on a VERY big fish .
Everything was switched to boillie as we had no action on the worm/maggot . The rods were repositioned , alarms set , and we waited again .
At 3pm i left Simmo and drove over to pick Sam up from school . After a brief stop for him to get changed it was back on the water for the final 2hrs .
When we got to the lake Simmo showed us a stunning 8lb 2oz tench he had while i was gone ( he had lost 2 others )
Its usual for this lake for us to lose the odd fish , theres bream over14lb , tench over 12lb and carp in excess of 30lb .
